The Good Child Syndrome: 10 Phrases Your Parents Said That Still Control You

“You were loved for being convenient. Not for being you.” This phrase may seem cruel, but for millions of people it is the key to understanding their entire lives. We are talking about the “Good Child Syndrome” — an invisible program implanted in us in childhood that makes us, already adults and strong, still seek approval, avoid conflicts, and put other people’s interests above our own.

This video is not an accusation against our parents. They wanted the best for us, but without knowing it, they passed on to us the attitudes that helped them survive, but prevent us from living fully. We will conduct a deep and honest analysis of the ten most common phrases from our childhood: from “keep your head down” and “what will people say?” to “be more modest” and “you want a lot, but you will get little.”

For each phrase, we will show:
What was the true, often loving, message of the parents.
How this phrase was understood and “written” into the child’s subconscious.
How this childhood lie manifests itself in your adult life: in money problems, in the fear of success, in the inability to say “no” and in the eternal comparison of yourself with others.

The most important thing is that this is not just a diagnosis. This is a self-therapy session, where we will offer an “antidote” for each of these programs. You will receive tools to begin rewriting your life script and finally give yourself permission to be uncomfortable, imperfect, but authentic and happy.
