Senor Arpakasso shows you how to make a delicious Spanish treat for the whole family - churros!
To make 30 small churros, you will need:
230ml water
40 g caster sugar
80g butter unsalted
250g plain flour
3g cinnamon
3g salt
4 eggs
20ml rum
15ml vanilla essence
You will also need:
extra caster sugar and cinnamon to roll your churros in
a strong mixer with a paddle or dough hook
a fluted/star nozzle of medium size and a piping bag
paper towel, and some oil to fry them in
1. Put the water, butter, salt, rum, vanilla essence and sugar in a pot, and bring it to the boil.
2. When it's boiling, add the flour and cinnamon, stirring until the mixture is combined and doesn't stick to the sides of the pot.
3. Transfer the dough to the mixing bowl and mix on a low to medium speed.
4. Add eggs slowly, waiting until each egg has combined with the dough. Make sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl!
5. Heat a pot of oil to 180 degrees, deep enough for churros to float freely
6. Pipe the churros into the pot using the scissors to chop them into neat lengths. Fry until golden-brown, remembering to turn them in the oil to ensure even cooking
7. Place on a plate with paper towel to dry the excess oil
8. Roll immediately in cinnamon sugar.
You and the family can eat them plain or with whatever dipping sauce you like!
