A New Witcher Game is Planned by CD Projekt Red After Cyberpunk 2077
President of the CD Projekt Red Group Adam Kiciński announced to polish journalists on March 11, 2020, that the story for a new single-player Witcher universe game was in the works and it would have a small development team as soon as Cyberpunk 2077 was launched on September 17, 2020. A multiplayer AAA game of Cyberpunk was planned before that new Witcher 4 title would be released. No details on the main protagonist of The Witcher project were mentioned. The Blood and Wine DLC or the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt put Geralt of Rivia in retirement after his adopted daughter was saved in the best endings of the open world RPG (role playing game). In January 2020, CD Projekt Red told its investors it had no Witcher games currently in development. On December 20, 2019, CDPR had obtained further rights to develop The Witcher franchise from the author Andrej Sapkowski. The Witcher Netflix series was watched by more than 75 million viewers and was the most in demand show by some measures in January 2020. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt saw a huge spike in its popularity on Steam for PCs after the show launched topping player records set in 2015 when the last game launched.
