English has just four sentence structures! We can use these different structures to create different flows in our writing. This video is an introduction to the four structures. At the end is a short comparison of two writing samples to help illustrate how simply changing sentence structures can make a story much more natural (and enjoyable)!
Knowing how to identify (and choose) sentence types can help us improve our writing. For example, if we tend to use a lot of simple sentence structures, our writing might sound very basic and lack flow. If we tend to use a lot of compound-complex sentences, our writing might be really hard to understand (and our readers might get tired).
