My Thoughts:
As part of my desk revamp a couple months ago, @Nanlite sent over two of their 4’ Pavotubes II 30XR light tubes. I specifally reached out to Nanlite to help with this setup becauase after a lot of reaseach, talking to some friends in the space, and also having used some other light tubes, I decided Nanlite was the way to go.
These have not dissapointed. They look great (most decent light tubes do from afar) but maybe what surprised me the most was their build quality. They are actually a full metal backing / housing, making them super rigid (so no bending or creeking). In my use case, they aren’t moving around much, but for those of you taking these on set, they shoud have no problem holding up.
The elephant in the room: the price. These lights are no doubt expensive, and with all the options out there, I might not recommend these for everybody. However, if you’re in need of color accurate light tubes with solid battery life, a great app / wireless experience, and superior build quality, then look no further.
Nanlite makes some very high-end equipement and I’m considering shifting some other parts of my setup over to their products. Having the ability to control the whole setup through one app would be great, and while their lights offer superior build and CRI qualities vs many others in the space, they are expensive items and my current kit fills my needs just fine.
