let's talk about all the details on what we know gear will look like in star wars: the old republic in 7.0 and how you farm and upgrade max gear based on the official announcement. I did want to correct something that I re-read of after recording. The modifiable gear will only be available at max item rating, which is only going to be achievable in the new operation on veteran difficulty. It also sounds like you wont be able to upgrade your flashpoint gear to operation gear and will need to geta set of operation gear to upgrade to max level. not 100% sure yet.
