Why Did Luke Skywalker Use A Sith Crystal For His Green Lightsaber?
As most of you will know, Jedi acquired their lightsaber crystals by finding them naturally on planets such as Illum. However, after order 66 and the rise of the Empire, naturally occuring lightsaber crystals were heavily regulated and usually illegal. In desperate need of a new lightsaber crystal after the events of The Empire Strikes Back, Luke Skywalker turned to the teachings of Obi-Wan Kenobi, hoping he could help him obtain a new crystal. Interestingly, Kenobis teachings recommended using an ancient Sith technique that had long been banned by the Jedi Order, showing just how desperate the Jedi had become. But out of desperation, Luke used this sith technique by to produce a forbidden green synthetic lightsaber crystal.
