When it comes to my data, I’m a believer in redundancy. So when I create a record in Airtable with new information, I copy it over to Google Sheets—just to be safe. But copying each new row and pasting it somewhere else gets real tedious and takes me away from anything else I could be doing.
So how can I stop all the copy and paste and get a mindless task off my plate? I do it with Zapier. If you haven’t heard of Zapier yet, it’s a tool that automates your tedious, manual work, so you can handle the tasks that really require brainpower.
And with Zapier, I can connect Airtable and Google Sheets so that any time a new record is made in Airtable, it’s automatically added in Google Sheets. So let’s build this Zap!
First, I need to connect my Airtable account. At Zapier, we take data security seriously and use bank-level encryption to protect your account details.
Once Airtable’s connected, I need to select the base, table, and view. This down caret button means I should select a value from the list.
Let’s find a sample real quick, and we’re on to Google Sheets. Like before, we need to select the Google Sheets account, and the spreadsheet we want to copy the records to.
This button means we need to do some quick mapping: We grab information from step one, like subject, from name, and email body, and we plug it into specific fields in Google Sheets.
This is set, so now let’s test. All right, looks good, so let’s see if this worked.
And there’s a brand new row in Google Sheets with all the information from my Airtable record. Now, every time a row is added in Airtable, Zapier will automatically add it to Google Sheets for me. I won’t have to copy, paste, or make mistakes—it’ll all just happen in the background.
I used a Zap template to build this Zap. They have the apps and actions pre-selected to make set-up even faster. If you want to try this one, just the click the link in the description. What do you want to automate today?
