The Hubble Space Telescope has taken a direct image, the figure of which is a Jupiter-like protoplanet AB Aurigae b, forming right now in a very unusual, intense and rapid way, which differs from the way most planets in the universe are formed. The discovery is the first direct evidence of the hypothesis that has existed for some time about the possibility of formation of planets due to the process of "instability of the protoplanetary disk". A protoplanet is enclosed inside a disk of dust and gas, up to 2 million years old. The disk cools, and it is gravitationally disintegrated into several massive fragments. The fragment continues to shrink and becomes a planet.
