Are There Nuclear Weapons In Star Wars?
Atomic bombs are by far the most destructive weapons in the possession of humanity and it makes you wonder why the people of the Star Wars galaxy don’t use them. Well, first of all, nuclear bombs are just firecrackers compared to the superuser of the Death Star and other Star Wars super weapons. However, why aren’t nukes used for other purposes? Well, they were used on a few occasions, such as when Mandalore the Ultimate annihilated the planet of Tarris with nuclear bombardment. However, in space battles, they are pretty useless. Not only are they expensive, but nukes are also easier to intercept and would likely lead to the destruction of yourself as well as your enemy. What's more, many capital ships and planetary shields would likely be able to absorb much of the blast, making powerful turbo lasers and ion canons far more effective.
