The Create & Learn Apptivity Case for iPad, geared for kids 3 and up, features technology from Otterbox, a brand known for providing superior protection to expensive electronics items. It is well thought out in terms of practicality and protection. To open, squeeze the two buttons at the same time and lift up the lid. Cleverly, it takes an adult-sized hand to do it. Sit the iPad inside and close securely. Be sure that the cord for the stylus does not get caught in the case. The case can stand vertically or horizontally using the stands on the back of the case. It also has a handle for take-along play. When playing with apps, kids can use the stylus or their fingers on the screen.
We did find that the somewhat loose film on the top made using the stylus a little difficult in some apps. However, the best part of this is that it provides a ton of protection against bangs or drops. And it appears to be completely spill-proof. We poured about four ounces of water directly on the case and not even a drop leaked inside. Obviously, we don't recommend that, and liquids should be kept away while kids are playing.
The case does come with the Fisher-Price Create & Learn app and includes a key that will unlock it for free, otherwise it's $1.99 for the app. (We've reviewed the app separately on TimetoPlayMag.com.)
The case is available in blue and pink.
