20th Century Studios is bringing the beloved Ice Age franchise into uncharted territory with a live-action adaptation. Titled Ice Age, the film is set to reimagine the animated classic with cutting-edge visual effects and a star-studded cast. Directed by Shawn Levy (Free Guy, The Adam Project), the movie is slated to release in the summer of 2026.

While the animated Ice Age films captured audiences with humor and heart, this live-action adaptation promises a fresh perspective on the misfit herd’s adventures. The story will loosely follow the plot of the original 2002 film, chronicling the journey of Manny the mammoth, Sid the sloth, and Diego the saber-tooth tiger as they protect a human baby while navigating a world in the throes of an Ice Age.

Shawn Levy shared his vision for the film in an interview:
