Former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Singh Accuses Wrestler Vinesh Phogat of Cheating

Former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president and BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has made fresh allegations against Olympic wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia after they joined the Congress party. Singh accused Phogat of cheating during the Olympic trials, questioning the legitimacy of her selection. He claimed Phogat participated in two weight categories in a single day and that trials were delayed improperly after the weigh-in, saying, "You did not win the wrestling, you went there by cheating. God has punished you for the same."

Singh also targeted Bajrang Punia, questioning his participation in the Asian Games without trials. Furthermore, he distanced himself from accusations of disrespecting women, instead blaming Bajrang, Vinesh, and Congress leader Bhupinder Hooda for scripting the narrative against him. The comments have further heightened tensions between Singh and the wrestlers
