Mig Welding and Metal Fabrication Rolling Workbench Pt 1 of 2. This week we are building a rolling workbench. The top work surface was reused from a center island in a kitchen remodel project and it is going to have hardwood maple drawers that were recycled from a renovation project at a local college dorm. This is a great example of using materials that you can find for free or cheap to build yourself a great space saving work table with organized storage below. This is a fun and easy DIY welding project to give yourself some additional organization space in the workshop, or in our example this is going to be my wife's laundry / craft table. The metal frame is constructed of 1/1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1/8 angle iron welded with self shielded flux core wire. I also show you how to join 2 pieces of angle iron together using coped cuts with a cutoff disc and an angle grinder.
