Destiny - Solo 390 Crota 1 Sword Kill / Solo 390 Crota One Sword - Age of Triumph Updated Version in the Crota's End New Raid. Just a quick video of me doing the Solo One Sword on 390 Crota :)
First and foremost, full credit to Gladd for being the first to kill this and a lot of the strat development (along with the others mentioned in his video). The dedication he put into this was insane and this challenge was a great one.
This took me around 25 hours over the last couple of weeks to get it done. I've had 8 enrage fails prior to killing this (7 of which were RNG deaths, 1 my own mistake), and probably upwards of 100 4.5-4.5 pace runs ruined by Boomers. The idea is that you need to get two 4.5-4.5 on the first downs to hit enrage, so that the enrage Oversoul overrides the first Oversoul, allowing you more time for the last down to kill it.
This was probably the hardest challenge I've ever done too. Not in the sense that the skill required is insane, just more so the combination of needing near perfect play, and the absolutely insane amount of RNG required for things to go your way.
Boomers pretty much decide the fate of your run, and whether they train you or not is completely up to them and you cannot control this (more often than not they're not very nice). From there, Crota is incredibly inconsistent with going down and his timing, so that's just another great thing to deal with. Along-side that, the most fundamental thing being Gjallarhorn, and that in itself is a trouble maker with wolfpacks not detonating (which also cost me 5 enrages due to no wolfpack rounds). Add all that with needing near frame-perfect sword timing.. and you end up with this.
Fun challenge overall, but can definitely be frustrating at the same time. Crota is also what I feel to be my personal weakest fight as a solo, and least enjoyable for me (due to RNG), but this one was still rather enjoyable to do. I'm also not sure if this had anything to with the kill, but basically I was using my older controller the entire time doing this (has a R2 that gets stuck + left thumbstick grip is tearing off), and then finally swapped to my newer controller. Had 3 perfect attempts in a row hitting enrage once I swapped.. which I then got the kill. Didn't think it would make a difference (or if it even did), but happy coincidence none-the-less lol.
Overall, very happy to get this done though!

Will continue to do so more often so people can see "behind the scenes" for these challenges, will include mic and work on improving ways to communicate with that. Should be a fun new experience.
