Listen to the new album Eye To The Ear here:
https://found.ee/eyetotheear
Other than my voice this song is composed entirely out of recordings of a curlew, skylark, snipe, meadow pipit, lapwing, carrion crow and a wood pigeon. I wrote an instrumental version of it as part of an album called Simmerdim: Curlew sounds, a project organised by Merlyn Driver in collaboration with the RSPB’s curlew recovery program. The song evolved and is now a song about ageing and time. Thirty percent of the publishing royalties will be distributed to the RSPB’s curlew recovery program.
Lyrics:
Don’t forget you are
But once a child
Then you get older
Sure, as a mountain
But for a smile
Just for a smile
Just for a while
May I overcome
That which beguiles
And clutches my fingers
And grasps at my toes
Just for a while
Just for a while
