Airbnb hosts asked the question: “Will there be any changes with guest profile photos in the future?” In an effort to reduce discrimination, Airbnb recently stopped allowing hosts to see guest profile photos before booking. In this video, hosts in London begin an important dialogue on the issue, with topics ranging from trust and safety to unconscious bias. The discussions illustrate the difficult tension between ensuring hosts feel safe and ensuring Airbnb is a place where everyone belongs. Laura Chambers, Airbnb’s general manager of Homes Host, encouraged hosts to talk candidly about their views, as well as listen to and consider each other’s personal experiences.
