Will Airbnb rebound in 2021? I share my opinion on why I think 2021 will be a great year for Airbnb.
Today, we are going to talk about Airbnb’s potential rebound for 2021, and share my opinion about whether Airbnb is going to bounce back in a really big way in the next 6 to 12 months. Whether you’re hosting your own property on Airbnb or managing other people’s properties on Airbnb, I hope that this will be really valuable for you because you can have the foresight on what’s to come in the coming months.
First of all, Airbnb has still been doing exceptionally well over the last 12 months for the people who were prepared and took the right steps to optimize their listings. Some people actually had listings perform better than in previous years. And there is a huge opportunity right now, because in my opinion, we are going to see a huge bounce back in tourism in the next 6, 12, 18 months, even international tourism.
Of course, I don’t know when the borders are really going to be opening up for international travel, but I would imagine that it will happen within the next 6 to 12 months. That is going to be a really big opportunity, so I would personally recommend getting prepared for that to happen anytime. If you’re well prepared, you are going to be able to take advantage of the opportunity and outperform your competition.
With that being said, there is still going to be a large amount of domestic travel happening than we would normally be seeing. Because a lot of people still do want to get out, get away from the city to enjoy a staycation. This is mostly being seen in the areas surrounding major cities, and I expect this trend to continue through 2021, with the potential introduction of some international travelers as well as we see borders opening up.
As a host or a property manager, you want to make sure that you stay on top of your pricing to take advantage of this. Sometimes, if a host is unprepared, they have their prices set too low, and all of their dates get booked up at a lower price, whereas they could have increased their rates and still gotten all booked up. The other thing you want to make sure you’re doing is to update and adjust your listing. A lot of people who experienced poor results in 2020 didn’t update their properties to target the type of guests that were staying at their properties.
For example, the typical traveler would have been international guests that were looking to be close to all the tourist attractions. But now, you are probably seeing a lot of domestic travelers that are wanting different things. So now, once we start seeing things opening up and international travel starting again, you’re going to want to readjust your listing to attract those guests as well so you’re optimized for both domestic and international travelers.
So is Airbnb going to rebound in 2021? I can’t say that I know for sure. But what we do know is that it is still doing well now, and there is a good chance that within the next 6 to 12 months, we are going to see a huge boost of potential bookings. If you want to take advantage of that opportunity, you will want to check out one of the free trainings linked below. They will take you through a more detailed, step by step process of how you can make sure you are prepared for this opportunity coming up. We are also seeing a huge number of property owners looking for someone to manage their properties - they don’t know how to optimize it themselves. So now is a great time to learn those skills so you can manage other people’s properties on Airbnb without needing an upfront investment.
