What Was The Ideology Of The Star Wars Empire And Why Did People Follow It?
As shown in Ahsoka and the Mandalorian, the Empire still had strong support among many former imperials, even after the death of Palpatine. This was largely because the Empire followed a discriminatory ideology known as the New Order which although totalitarian, contained ideas that were appealing to humans in the core worlds. Most notable was its suspicion of those who were different. This of course included force users, but discrimination also extended to alien species, particularly those who backed the CIS. This New Order ideology based on strength allowed for a vast centralization of power, with the seizure of alien industries unfairly benefiting a largely human oligarchy, ensuring that the Empire maintained support in the core worlds.
