In this video we will visit the Prospekt Mira metro station (Koltsevaya line) and walk the station from start to finish.
About the station:
Opening date of the circular station 'Prospect Mira': 01/30/1952.
It was opened as part of the Kurskaya - Belorusskaya section, until June 20, 1966 it was called the Botanical Garden, in 1991-1992 there was a project to rename it to Meshchanskaya Sloboda. The structure of the station is a deep pylon three-vaulted station, built according to a standard design.
Architects: V.G. Gelfreikh, M.A. Minkus.
Design engineer: B.M. A trick.
The decoration of the station is dedicated to the development of agriculture in the USSR. The pylons of the station hall are covered with light marble and decorated with bas-reliefs (sculptor G.I. Motovilov). The frieze is made in the form of a ceramic bas-relief decorated with leaves and vines. The track walls are faced with dark red Ural marble. The floor is paved with black and gray granite.
In 1958, in the western end of the station, a transition was built to the station 'Prospekt Mira' of the Kaluzhsko-Rizhskaya line. The ground lobby is built into a multi-storey residential building on Prospekt Mira (architect A.E. Arkin). The front of the lobby is decorated with sculptures and original clocks, inside there is a smalt panel 'Mother of the World' by artist A. Kuznetsov.
The name was given in honor of Mira Avenue, at the very beginning of which the station is located. Until June 20, 1966, the station was called 'Botanical Garden' (after the nearby Botanical Garden of Moscow State University).
