Britain's ambassador to Afghanistan Sir Laurie Bristow has released an update on the progress of the evacuation from Afghanistan
In a video posted on Twitter, he said: "We're putting everything we can into getting British nationals and Afghans who have worked with us in the past out of Afghanistan to safety," he said in a video message posted on Twitter.
"Yesterday, we got about 700 people out. We're trying to scale up the speed and pace over the next couple of days and we'll put everything we can on this for the next few days, trying to get out everyone we need to get to safety as soon as we can."
Sir Laurie has previously vowed to stay in Afghanistan "for as long as possible" while overseeing the evacuation.
