This video will show you how to remove timing delay or sync issues between a playback track and your recorded track when using the Audacity recording software.
The steps are :
0- set laptop microphone and laptop speaker as devices
shut down all other applications for consistent results
1- Remove the latency setting. Make it 0
Audacity Preferences Recording
In the Latency section change Latency correction to 0 milliseconts
2- Generate a rhythm track
Generate click track OK
Default track settings are fine
3- Record rhythm track
(check Preferences recording record on new track)
Be quiet.
Hit record for 5 seconds
Hit stop
4- Measure latency
Using the Zoom tool which looks like a Magnifying Glass, Zoom in so you can see the recording easily.
Using the Selection tool which looks like an I bar select from the start of the original click to the start of the recorded click.
Read the latency at the bottom in the Length box
5- Apply latency to the Latency Correction
In the Latency section change Latency correction to the measured value.
6- Retest
You will see the clicks perfectly aligned.
