Making a Boards of Canada style beat on the SP-404 with Guitar Samples
This week’s jam was inspired by my favorite album, The Campfire Headphase by Boards of Canada. Due to some ridiculously hot weather this week and being in the midst of a total studio overhaul, I made a beat using just the SP-404. While this sounds limiting, the scope of effects and sample manipulation on this hardware is incredible. I made a few guitar samples and chopped them up to make this beat.
If I were to continue developing this track, I would probably switch to the pattern sequencer and add more drum variety and additional bass and lead parts.
