Otar Badalov, born in 1973 to an Azerbaijani family in the Georgian town of Marneuli, became a character in the criminal chronicle. He started his way together with Nadir Salifov. In 1996 they were arrested in Baku. He was sentenced for 8 years on three articles. After his release in 2001, when he was only 29 years old, he received the title of a thief in law. This title was given to him by Vazha Biganishvili and Artik Dabchayev.
He was linked to an Azerbaijani criminal group. He was killed at the Take sushi bar in the Kutuzovsky district of Moscow on March 21, 2003, together with Muslim Khaskhanov and Artik Dabchaev. The killers shot the entire company of "thieves" right through the windows of the bar and fled. The murders took place after a large gathering of thieves, which took place on March 9 in one of the casinos in the Domodedovo district of the Moscow region. Most of the bandits shot later took part in this meeting. The reasons for the shootings remain unclear, but it is believed that it may have been related to an order for the assassination of authorities from the Izmailovo organized crime group or the consequences of a clash between Chechen and Azerbaijani clans.
