Mel, Duck, Kris, and Ron say "Now it's a Showtime!"
Duck and I are transcribing from this excellent screenshot LP of SRWZ by Brunom1: https://lparchive.org/Super-Robot-War...

Saikyo no Situation.
So the Alpha series of games turned out to be a smash hit for Super Robot Wars at the start end of 2005, with the long and arduous but very satisfying Alpha 3 showing what Banpresto could pull off on the PS2. Then comes 2007, the Original Generations remake of OG1 and 2 pushed the envelope even further, breathing new life into those handheld titles and being a beloved game in its own right. Now was an ideal time to get into the series. That's exactly what happened to me!
The PS2 was on its way out but it wasn't about to go down wihtout one last rock solid entry. Here lies the swan song for SRW's PS2 life, the beginning to what would go on to another anthology of games - Enter Super Robot Wars Z.
The Z series acted both as a new return to form from what was learned from their time with Alpha and OG while also setting the stage for what would eventually turn into SRW's current style of gameplay, involving many titles old and new to grace the battlefield in one giant continous bound of dimension hopping. The animators got to flex a bit more with both battle and map animations. We get one goofy protagonist and one serious one to let the player pick their vibe, with both turning out to be very fun with a neat story to roll with. I vibe with the serious protag this time. (it helps that she's very cute)
Z1 was rather foreign to me for some time as I had avoided it for a while during my time building up my series rep. I bought myself a copy on PS3 but never got to play it - the language barrier and its higher than normal difficulty for SRW made it a daunting play for one without the necessary experience with the series. However at the midpoint of 2020, I decided I was ready to take that plunge at last.
I'm very glad I did.
We start the Real Route hanging out in the Universal Century timeline as Setsuko Ohara, rookie test pilot for the Titans' branch "The Glory Star". She's a nice, meek lady who is woefully out of place trying to mingle with the historically dickish Titans, but her chief and leader Denzel Hammer and partner Toby Watson are here to help get her up to task. Testing out the prototype Virgola units, it seems business as usual at first when the AEUG come knocking, looking to score the new testbed tech for themselves. The Glory Star prove their worth, but Setsuko tries to throw hands with Kamille Bidan, a lad you don't wanna do so with. Her impetuousness ends up casing the dimensions to shift, and her long story of sorrow begins at last.
Does our heroine possess The Right Stuff? Hopefully she rocks the target and has a go!
