In preparation for the 15th School Games National Finals, taking place 1-4 September, Youth Sport Trust are delighted to bring back their Mentor Programme, which has been designed to offer athlete’s competing at the National Finals one-on-one virtual sessions with SGNF alumni or other high-profile athletes.
Through this initiative the athletes have the opportunity to ask their mentor any questions they might have about competing at a professional level, their personal hobbies and ambitions and to settle any nerves they have ahead of the event in September.
The third pair in our initiative was Oscar Kelly, triathlete, who was paired with one of this year’s Modern Pentathlon athletes, Lily-Mae.
Following their mentoring session, Lily-Mae commented: “It was great to be able to connect with an athlete who has similar sporting experience to me. I learnt so much from Oscar and look forward to competing at the School Games National Finals in a couple of weeks time.”
