Acer and Ryzen teamed for the Acer Nitro 5 with a Ryzen 5 4600H and I have run it through a variety of benchmark tests including photo editing, after effects, video editing, 3D modeling and more. ►⏩►⏩ Check specs and pricing in the links below…

As we always do on this channel let’s kick things off with the build quality and then later in the video we will do a deep dive into the benchmark test results, thermals, component usage and noise tests as well.
Weighing in at 5.51 Lbs and at a thickness of 0.94 inches thick this laptop is able to fit in your standard 15in laptop backpack making this the perfect budget performance laptop we have all been waiting for.
This is an all plastic build with tightly finished edges and sturdy materials. All of the components are secured to the chassis in a way that instills confidence in the longevity of this laptop. I would not recommend doing a drop test just for fun, as it is still a mere plastic build, but overall it feels good.
I will point out however that the top bezel of the screen is a little sharp. I would have preferred to have this smoothed out, similar to the other corners on this laptop, but overall it is not a deal breaker.
This laptop is well ventilated featuring large vents on the bottom cover, back panel and side panels of the laptop. These vents along with Acer’s NitroSense & CoolBoost do a great job of cool this laptop under heavy workloads.
As you can see the Acer Nitro 5 remains cool during the 4k export test and stay tuned to how fast it was able to export that 9-minute 4k clip later in the video.
The ports selection on the Acer Nitro 5 is generous, offering:
USB 3.2 Type C Gen 2 (up to 10 Gbps)
USB 3.2 Gen 2 (with power off charging)
x2 USB 3.2
HDMI 2.0
Ethernet RJ-45
headphone/speaker/ line out
Regarding the on-the-go capabilities of the Nitro 5 you will be able to get roughly 11 hours web browsing battery life (at 150 nits of brightness), which is quite incredible for a gaming laptop. During design and video editing you can expect less battery life at roughly 6 - 7 hours at 150 nits of brightness. This is all possible with the Nitro 5’s 80Wh battery.
As I pull open the lid of this laptop which can easily be done with one hand, and has a little bit of screen flex in the middle between the hinges, I am greeted by a FHD 15.6 in display that has a 60Hz refresh rate and can reach 250 nits at full brightness.
The color accuracy is one area of this laptop that does disappoint. The Acer Nitro 5 can reach a color gamut range of 65% sRGB - 49% Adobe RGB - 49% DCI-P3. But if you are considering this laptop for video editing and you still want great color accuracy, consider picking up a decently priced color accurate monitor such as the Acer ConceptD CM2. I will link that in the description below if you are curious about the price and availability.
The Acer Nitro 5 I’m reviewing comes with:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 4600H (6 Cores 12 Threads)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 (4GB VRAM)
RAM: 8GB DDR4
Storage: 256GB SSD
If you’re looking for a Ryzen 5 laptop well under $1000 dollars that can handle itself during 4k video editing, After Effects (with 16GB of RAM), easily dominates in the most common design applications, while remaining cool and daily quiet during the benchmark tests. Oh, and don’t forget about getting started with some 3D modeling, well then this laptop could be right for you.
