Electroimpact Flex Track machines use FANUC 31i-A5 controls and up to 16 servo axes to accurately drill and insert fasteners for use in aircraft assembly.

This video shows a temporary fastener installation using FANUC CNC advanced technologies such as synchronous axis control and clamping. To simplify custom screen development, an intuitive custom interface was developed using FANUC PICTURE- screen customizing software. The lower left screen shows a close-up glimpse of the underside of the operation including drilling, probing, and fastener installation. Here is a close up of the process. The diameter of the drilled hole is probed for accuracy.

Because of their accuracy, reliability and broad capabilities, FANUC CNC systems are increasingly being used for general motion and other nontraditional CNC applications.
