Pascal Cotte, a scientist who studied the famous Mona Lisa for over 15 years, recently looked through over 1650 images taken by an extremely high-tech camera. He did this to uncover the secrets beneath the finished masterpiece. He found out there was a hidden drawing beneath the paint.
It all started in 2004 when the Louvre Museum in Paris allowed Pascal to take photographic scans of the Mona Lisa. The only reason he could do such a thing was that Pascal had recently invented a highly sensitive multispectral camera. Since 2004, he has been going through the images trying to recreate the traces of the old work underneath the Mona Lisa.
