For many, things not panning out the way we had hoped is a failure. But for others, like famous scientists and artists, these failures are seen as necessary learnings on the road to achievement. They allow you to identify and remove what doesn’t work. So go back and re-look at what you labelled a failure!
Thanks for watching this video. As promised, here’s something you can try at home to get to grips with this information.
Exercise:
Identify an idea you consider to have failed
Now, analyse this failure and write down what went wrong, what was the context, the difference between the result and your expectations and also the events leading up to the failure.
Now analyze everything that may have contributed to the failure
What can you learn from this? What key learning can you extract?
Distil these learnings into action points for the next time that will help you learn and grow from this failure
Consider alternative points of view… does EVERYONE think this was a failure?
Implement your improved ideas in the next project
