Here’s how you can create a marketing message that clicks with consumers.

First, clarify your message.

Come up with one sentence that explains:

The problem your clients face
How you fix that problem
How that makes their lives better

Focus your message on your customers, instead of yourself, and they’ll be interested in what you’re offering.

Get buy-in from staff.

Once you’ve come up with your message, have your staff commit it to memory.

Let’s say you’re a home contractor. When someone asks what you do for a living, instead of saying “We install drywall,” consider saying, “We make houses into homes.”

Get your staff saying the same thing, and your message will become part of what you do.

Put your message everywhere.

Having a message is great. Now it needs to be consistent in your marketing materials. Put it in your:

Online, on your website and social media pages
Email campaigns
Printed marketing materials
