Recorded as part of the "Novel Experiments for Fundamental Physics" KITP Online Conference.
This online "Exploration" conference will bring together experimenters and theorists to discuss novel experiments for tests of fundamental physics and their theoretical interpretation. Topics will include experiments on dark matter, axions, weak short-range forces, fundamental constants, symmetry violations, the principle of equivalence in gravity, and new regions of the gravitational-wave spectrum. Experimenters using cold atoms and related techniques are making great advances, and new or more precise tests of fundamental physics are becoming feasible. Theorists can suggest new tests and estimate the necessary precision, or the size of possibly measureable new effects.
This conference will accordingly address the prospects and significance of experiments using cold-atom, interferometric, opto-nanomechanical, and related techniques, both presently planned and possible, ranging in size from table-top to a kilometer or more. The format will consist of short ~30min talks with ample time for discussion. Since the goal is to enhance communication between experimenters and theorists, speakers should emphasize the main opportunities, and are welcome to present important questions as well as answers and results.
