Maxxis RAZR mt-772 - tyres user review at Moscow-Vladivostok roadtrip.
My followers know that I hardly ever do ads. And if I do mention some brand, it’s because I really like the stuff and honestly recommend using it. It doesn’t matter if I’m talking about a book, a useful car gadget or a flashlight from a nearby supermarket.
This review has been in works for a while as I get a lot of tyre-related questions. When I left for a journey across Asia, I knew it would be a very long one both distance and timewise. More than 40 000 km. That’s why I needed new tyres so that I didn’t have to change them along the way. I changed the tyres the day I was leaving and chose Maxxis Razr MT-772.
This is a second Maxxis set that I own so the choice was thought-through and deliberate. Maxxis tyres are very soft and durable and have appropriate tread ply. I’ve been driving only on mud tyres for 10 years because for me it’s the most fitting option. I often cross several time and climate zones in one trip so highway or studded tyres are not enough for me.
The road from Moscow to Vladivostok was a little more than 11 000 km long. I covered it all - asphalt, ice of mountain spiral highways, gravel of Mongolia country roads, snow of Transbaikalia. The tyres didn’t fail me once. As I got to Vladivostok I measured the tread ply and found out that the trip only took 1.4 mm of it. Which is very good considering that it’s full depth is almost 16 mm.
