Jasper National Park next door to Banff was Alberta’s piece of heaven on earth, known for its majestic natural beauty and abundant wildlife. It has been reduced to ash in a raging fire and it is devastating. I was just there. After a 50 year absence. To say I am heartbroken would be an understatement.

First responders have been told to leave. Flames consumed multiple buildings, including the Maligne Lodge and at least the grounds of the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.

CBC Edmonton sill have a report at 7:30 EST, 5:30 Mtn.
