Axel Rudakubana has been charged with 3 counts of murder and 10 counts of attempted murder.
The 17 year old, who turns 18, in 6 days was born to Rwandan parents in Cardiff before moving to the village of Banks in Lancashire.
He is accused of the fatal stabbing of Bebe King, 6, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9 and the attempted murder of 8 children and 2 adults.

Rudakubana has now been remanded in youth custody, after he was charged with three counts of murder, 10 counts of attempted murder and possession of a knife.
Rudakubana appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Thursday morning.
Judge Menary told the defendant: "You are remanded to youth detention accommodation until these proceedings have been completed.
"That position might change when you achieve your majority in a short while."

Merseyside Police arrested a man and seized a flick knife near the vigil in Southport this evening.
The 32-year-old man was arrested at around 6:50pm after police received a report.
