Drum solo | Cario Shimmy Quake 2018 | L. A. Bellydance Academy
The L.A. Bellydance Academy took to the stage at the 2018 Cairo Shimmy Quake Festival in Glendale, CA. This show, a yearly event brings together the Bellydance community for workshops, shopping, and performance opportunity.
The drum solo is a dynamic part of a bellydance show. It connects the dancer and the drummer with strong accents and enchanting rhythm.
Classically referred to as Raqs Sharqi, danse oriental, or Raks Baladi the belly dance is a fusion of Arabic folk styles, mixing with otherworldly influences such as Russian ballet and Latin dances which developed roots in early Egyptian cinema and the cabarets in 1920's Egypt.
