Hall of Fame center Willis Reed was the legendary captain and unquestioned leader of the New York Knick championship teams of the early 1970s. A consummate leader and team player, Reed was a standout at HBCU’s Grambling State University before winning Rookie of the Year honors with the Knicks in 1965. His ten-year NBA Career was all spent in a Knick uniform where he was a seven-time All Star, the league’s Most Valuable Player in 1970 and a two-time Finals MVP while leading New York to two World Championships. Elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1982, Willis Reed was a member of both the NBA’s 50th and 75th Anniversary teams.
