Part 16 of "Japanese History: The Textbook," a historical documentary series based entirely on Japanese-language educational materials. On this episode, we take a look at the middle Muromachi Period and watch the Ashikaga Shogunate gradually grow less and less stable as a result of poor leadership and internal conflicts, most notably the Onin War. We also examine the goings-on in the greater East Asian sphere, such as the rise of the Ming Dynasty, Joseon Korea, and the Kingdom of Ryukyu, and the influence that those states exerted on Japanese culture.
