"Palaban", written and directed by National Artist for Film Eddie Romero, is a melodrama about a child-custody battle between the child's biological mother--struggling for survival--and the biological father's rich older sister. Released in 1980, the film stars Amalia Fuentes as the rich socialite and Alma Moreno as the the Bar-Room Girl. They are joined by Ting Jocson, Claire Felicen, Baby Delgado, Eddie Garcia, Joonee Gamboa, and Josephine Estrada among others.
