Tent Camping on a Private Island in the Desert! | Patagonia Lake, Arizona Camp & Cook
One of our most adventurous videos yet! We drove to Patagonia Lake in Southern Arizona to kayak into a boat-in campsite for an overnight tent camp at one of the coolest sites we've ever seen!

Patagonia Lake State Park is a just about an hour south of Tucson, Arizona, and just miles from the Mexico border. Not far from Nogales, this decently sized lake (for Arizona) is refuge to all kinds of wildlife.
Not only is this lake perfect for boating in general, but it features a full campground including some very unique spots: boat access only camping spots. Not only that, there are 2 islands that are completely private!
We loaded up the kayaks, our camping gear, and our dog Mowgli into our 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ and made the 1 hour drive south to Patagonia, AZ. We unloaded the kayaks, and made our way over to our very own island for the night.
After setting up camp, we enjoyed some fishing, fire, and food. In this video we made beef kebabs with butter rice for dinner, and bacon and eggs for breakfast.
All in all, this was easily one of the coolest camping spots we could have found. The island seems to have doubled as a bird sanctuary as well, so that certainly provided some entertainment (and an alarm clock).
