"Hound Dog" and "Born To Hand Jive" were songs that were performed by Johnny Casino and The Gamblers in the first movie. It was performed in the dance contest scene. This dance scene is one of the most popular dance scenes of all times, most famous for Cha Cha and Danny's dance break during the end of the song, eventually seeing them win.

"Johnny Casino and The Gamblers" are portrayed by the group "Sha Na Na" in the movie. "Sha Na Na" is an American rock and roll doo-wop group. Performing a song-and-dance repertoire based on 1950s hit songs, Sha Na Na has been simultaneously reviving and parodying the music of 1950s New York street culture since the group's formation in 1969. After gaining initial fame for their performance at Woodstock, made possible with the help of their friend Jimi Hendrix, the group hosted Sha Na Na, a syndicated variety series that ran from 1977 to 1981.

How To Do The Hand Jive - The hand actions performed by the dancers are two slaps on the legs, two claps, hitting your fists together twice, first with their right hands on top, then their left hands. This is followed by pointing behind with their right hand over their shoulder, then their left hand.
