Lrt 1 Asiaworld Station Update
Lrt 1 Asiaworld Station is an under-construction Manila Light Rail Transit (LRT) stations for the LRT Line 1 Cavite extension project. This is the latest construction progress of the new station currently being built along Coastal road in Parañaque.
This new station will be connected to the Paranaque Integrated Terminal Exchange ( PITX ).This is the latest progress update of the new Asiaworld station.
Asiaworld station was first planned as part of the Line 1 Cavite Extension plan, which calls for a mostly elevated extension of approximately 11.7 kilometers (7.3 mi)The Cavite Extension project, the total number of LRT-1 stations will increase from 20 to 28, covering several major cities including Quezon City, Caloocan, Manila, Pasay, and Paranaque, all the way to Bacoor, Cavite. It will add 11 kms to the existing railway system and is expected to service up to 800,000 passengers per day. It is also expected to increase and enhance commercial development around the rail stations.
Commuters can expect comfortable, reliable, and modern integrated transport riding the LRT-1 because travel time from Pasay City to Cavite will be cut down from an hour and half to just twenty-five to thirty minutes.
LRMC is working with Bouygues Travaux Publics as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor for this much-anticipated LRT-1 extension. A global player in construction operating in more than 80 countries from 5 continents, Bouygues Travaux Publics is an expert in large-scale projects involving tunnels, engineering structures, as well as road, port & rail infrastructures.
For the Phase 1 of the project (ROW Package 1), 5 out of 8 stations will be built,a total of 203 pi-girders (chief horizontal support in a structure) will be installed using the above-ground launcher.
The project’s target is to install a pi-girder every 1-2 days.A first for the Philippines, this special engineering method allows for faster execution and causes minimal effect on the ground-level traffic. The other pi-girders will be installed via on-ground equipment such as straddle carriers and cranes.
Eight new train stations will be built along the 11.7km rail-line extension, which is expected to significantly increase the transit system’s capacity from 300,000 to 800,000 passengers daily. The new stations will be located in Redemptorist, MIA, Asiaworld, Ninoy Aquino, Dr. Santos, Las Piñas, and Zapote.
The project will stretch the current LRT-1 railway from Baclaran to Niog in Bacoor, Cavite, and is set to begin partial operations in the fourth quarter of 2023.
