Part 13 of "Japanese History: The Textbook," a historical documentary series based entirely on Japanese-language educational materials. This time, we take a look at the middle Kamakura period and the political and social changes that occurred therein. Topics covered include the first samurai law code (the Goseibai Shikimoku), the growing power of the Hôjô family's main line, the lifestyle of Kamakura period samurai, and the six new schools of Buddhism which sprung up during this era.
