"Under" tutorial! How to protect your dog in public.

This skill uses your personal space to provide a barrier for your dog. We use it often at the park, restaurant patios, and the vet.

Step 1: lure your dog under your legs with high-value treats, rapid-fire reward to the ground, then release before your dog gets up

Step 2: increase the duration between treats and practice both directions

Step 3: add in the verbal cue "under" right before your hand signal and begin to treat higher (to the mouth)

Step 4: when ready, start over at step 1 in new environments with increased distractions. Begin reinforcing calmer behaviors.
