Introducing MicroCeph
LXD clustering becomes very powerful when combined with distributed storage. In that setup, the loss of an entire physical server doesn't lead to any actual loss of data and recovery is as trivial as starting the instance on another server.
To make this possible, LXD relies on Ceph for distributed block and filesystem. Ceph however is a very complex beast with a lot of different components and configuration, making it a bit daunting for new users.
Enter MicroCeph, a snap-based packaging of Ceph which is combined with a clustering layer similar to LXD's, allowing for very easy clustering and management across multiple systems.
