South Korea's First Flood-Resistant Floating City in Busan
The Busan Floating City will prepare the urban area for the rising seas and tackle land shortages in coastal areas. The Busan Metropolitan City, Oceanix, UN-Habitat, BIG, and Samoo Architects & Engineers collaborate to create the first sustainable floating city in the world. The first phase is expected to be completed by 2025.
The United Nations believes floating cities can build carbon-neutral cities from their initial stages. The Busan Floating City will act as a model & inspiration for other cities to find solutions for climate change impacts.
