Reality is not what you think
The modern scientific view of the world states that matter is the fundamental substance in nature and all mental activity, and consciousness itself, are the result of material interactions.
We have accepted this view because it seems quite obvious – I am a separate conscious being in a world full of objects that are not me. Some of these other things, like other people and animals, are conscious because they also have a complex physical brain, while other things, such as rocks and water, are just simple arrangements of matter that are not conscious.
This is the standard way most of us perceive ourselves and the world around us, but is it accurate?
There are compelling reasons to believe it is true, but the more we examine this physicalist worldview, the more we realize that something is deeply wrong with our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.
