In this video I show my improvement for my reflow hot plate system. I haven't touched the electronics or the software, but I replaced a crucial component, the heater. Previously, I've been using a ceramic heater but it turned out that it has its own deficiencies. Now, I started to use a mica heater which is much better than the ceramic heater, however it still has some issues. When it gets hot, due to the thermal expansion it becomes swollen which messes up the contact between the heater and the bottom of the PCB. To mitigate this issue, I clamped a 1.5 mm aluminium plate on top of the heater which kept the things stiff and rigid and it also improved the thermal response of the system by some extent.
