planet5D writer Hugh Brownstone continues his five part series on Sony's FS7, this time accompanied by the Atomos Ninja Assassin.
Strange to write "I love the Assassin," but you get the idea. It's a great complement to the Sony FS7 as a monitor alone; a recorder alone; and as the combination of both that it is.
This footage accompanies episode 4 in our five part series, "Is the FS7 The Last Camera You'll Ever Need?"
I can’t tell you that I see a difference between the XAVC-I footage recorded internally to XQD cards and the ProRes 422 footage recorded externally by the Assassin to SSD, though I wasn’t looking at apples-to-apples (I didn’t even bother recording internally because I didn’t know if the FS7 would stop the Assassin when it ran out of space on the XQD card). I can tell you that both looked gorgeous, especially compared to my go-to cam, the Sony a6000, recording 1080p in XAVC-S.
On the other hand, the difference between the FS7 and the a6000 narrow considerably when shooting in a controlled situation like an indoor interview.
