🌿 What does wellness in civil society organizations really look like?
We asked leaders from around the world tough questions in our latest Wellness in CSOs panel, moderated by our Founder & CEO, Vandita Morarka.
Our panellists included:
🎨 Omaid Sharifi – Co-founder & President of ArtLords, a global grassroots movement empowering artists and activists to use art for social change and empowerment.
🚺 Leila Billing – Senior International Development Professional and Co-Founder of We Are Feminist Leaders, with over 15 years of experience at the intersection of youth rights and gender.
🛠️ Parth Sharma – Decolonial Researcher, Liberation Therapist, Culture Worker, and Founder of T&F India, a volunteer-driven lived experience youth coalition.
We explored the impact of the nature of CSO work on worker wellbeing, balancing mission-driven work with necessary mental health safeguards to protect our teams, role of leaders in championing systemic changes when it comes to prioritising wellness. Our panellists highlighted the unique challenges smaller organisations face, from limited resources to a lack of clear wellness protocols, making it harder to prioritise worker wellness.
We also addressed common misconceptions about wellness, emphasising that it encompasses much more than just physical health—it’s about sustainable support for mental well-being. The panel featured practical examples of wellness practices that civil society organizations can adopt to foster a healthier workplace.
